Kids Policies
Having a safe and family friendly environment is extremely important to us at Arbor CrossFit. This is not just limited to the safety of our members, but also any children who are present at the box during group classes. If you choose to bring your children with you to group classes, we ask for your help to enforce these guidelines with your kids.
- Although we love all our Arbor fur children, they are not allowed in the facility at any time. If you choose to bring your dog, please either keep them in the car or outside the gym.
- Mobile children are not allowed in the personal training room or on the black gym floor during group classes – This includes the warm-up, the WOD, and any post-WOD work. Mobile children must stay in the front lobby area. Infants may be on the black gym floor if restrained in a car seat/stroller safely out of the way of other athletes.
- All equipment is off limits to children at all times (excluding CrossFit Kids class). This includes workout equipment (the pull-up rig, rings, jump ropes, boxes, rowers, PVC pipes, barbells, kettlebells, etc) as well as other gym equipment (computers, refrigerators, clothing racks, shelving, decor, etc).
- Help us keep the inside and outside of the gym tidy. Please ensure that your child has cleaned up after themselves before you leave the gym. This includes food, games, toys, etc.
- Your child is your responsibility. It is not the coaches, other ACF staff members, or other athlete’s responsibility to manage, take care of, or discipline your child. If your child is doing something they aren’t supposed to do, please attend to your child immediately in a non-disruptive way. This includes if your child is yelling, screaming, or crying for a prolonged period of time.
Please have a conversation with your children before coming to class, so that they understand what is expected of them. If your child is a continuous safety hazard or disruption, Arbor CrossFit has the right to ask that the child not be brought back to the facility during group class times. We would like to reiterate that we love having families coming to the gym together and we are only looking out for the safety and enjoyment of all members and their children.
Strategies that could help your gym time being even better with kids:
- We understand paying for childcare can get expensive. Try reaching out to another member who has kids to set up a childcare trade. It’s a win-win for both of you!
- Bring entertainment for your kids! We encourage books, iPads, puzzles, coloring supplies, etc.
- Prep your children before you get to the gym. Communicate clear and direct expectations. Also, understand that young children may not perform exactly as you want them to and you may need to sacrifice your workout to help manage your child.
